KEYS TO A FINE JEWELER

When you're searching for a jeweler, remember that you may spend thousands of dollars over time at this business. It's imperative to find someone who is willing to work with you when you have questions about jewelry, repairs or perhaps special orders.

Find a store where the owner is the jeweler, someone actively involved in the store's operation who know's his clientele and the business.

Your chosen store should be able to design and create fine jewelry. The staff should be happy to spend time with customers to educate them about jewelry and what's currently available on the premises. After all, you've chosen your jeweler because of his or her expertise. Look for well-known jewelry and watch lines while you're shopping. Your jeweler should offer free gift wrapping, and above all superb customer service combined with an expert staff.

WATCH REPAIR

Watch-a-Mean its Not My Battery?

Its mid day, you're at work (thinking about home) and a quick glance at your watch reveals that it's been 12:49 pm for quite some time now... several hours in fact. Time has stopped... leaving you to toil at work for all eternity, trapped somewhere in between post-lunch indigestion and the late afternoon rush to catch up on the day's work... This is good science fiction material, but in reality, you're probably in need of new watch battery.
Whew, That was a close one.

In most cases, a trip to Gem Classics your local jeweler will solve the problem with a fresh battery, installed while you wait. Occasionally, however, your repairperson will return with your watch and inform you that your battery is still good and has plenty of power. Then informs you there is some other problem, which is keeping your watch from running (or running on time). Most of these watch repairs call for a "C.O.A." (Clean, oil, and adjustment/analysis), which is an overhaul on the movement. All internal parts are removed, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated. This service usually solves the problem, and has a one -year warranty on the workmanship.

Regardless of the repair, Gem Classics is well -equipped with the knowledge and experience to handle your watch repair needs. Bonded and insured, with over 30 years experience, our watch technicians are trained in all aspects of watch repair - including (but not limited to) mechanical, accutron, quartz and antique watches. Major repairs including COA's are backed by a one-year warranty, and minor repairs are covered by a ninety days warrantee; contingent upon seeing no signs of abuse, or water damage, etc.

All estimates are free-of-charge, and typical turnaround time for a watch repair is two to four weeks. (Still faster than the manufacturer!)
Finally, just a reminder that regularly scheduled maintenance is necessary to avoid costly repairs, and essential to the long life of your timepiece
